About

Going Grey is a community-funded movement supporting everyone discovering that silver is its own kind of beautiful.

We exist to fund three things:

  • Research into the biology of hair pigmentation and the psychology of how we age.
  • Community programs — meetups, mentor pairings, and resources for people in the middle of their transition.
  • Storytelling — essays, portraits, and reporting that change how the wider world sees grey.

We publish stories from people mid-transition, conversations with stylists and dermatologists who actually know what they're talking about, and writing on the science of pigment loss — alongside the cultural shift that's finally catching up.

This isn't an anti-dye campaign. It's a permission slip. If you want to grow it out, we're here for the awkward stretch. If you've already crossed the line, we're here for the joy of it.

How it's funded

Going Grey is entirely supported by donations from readers. There are no ads, no sponsored content, and no paywalls. If the work is useful to you, please consider donating.
